Start. Feel the atmosphere and how it carries the weight of potential. There’s no better time than everytime to start, but this point in the year, in particular, is when your soul craves it. Breathe in your big ideas, your small ideas, and exhale intention. Now is the time.
Move a finger. A limb. Feel your weight by shifting it from one foot to the other, or from one side of your seat to the other. Imagine joints moving around within you to create new shapes out of your torso and limbs. Sway with the wind. What is your body telling you? Is there energy that needs to get out? Is there exhaustion? You may have forgotten about something that your body remembers. Take time to remind yourself of you, and move.
Hopefully there’s decent walking weather where you are. With each paced step, inhale and exhale in sync. Feel the ground support you, and feel the rhythmic, repetitive movement of your feet. Bring to the surface of your mind where these feet have been the past hours, and imagine where they’re headed. Breathe in and exhale with a gentle smile with gratitude for the journey you’re on this moment.
Find somewhere quiet… and slow to a stop. Close your eyes and open your ears and let it take in three sounds around you. Take some time to be present with each sound. Listen, there may be something for you to hear. Even if it’s yourself, for the first time today.
Let the word rise to the surface of your consciousness as you take in a deep breath, and two, and three. whether you’re starting your day or winding it down, take time for this.
