The journey into self-love and self-acceptance must begin with self-examination… until you take the journey of self-reflection, it is almost impossible to grow or learn in life. (Iyanla Vanzant)
Sunday night thought prompt: what newness is growing from the moments in your life that have withered, died, or had to be let go of?
This recent report by Ruth Cabral on CNN Philippines shows the traumatizing experience of the fight against COVID-19, specially this year, 2021. The lack of support for healthcare workers, the lack of resources, and the need to mask their emotions while on duty takes a high toll on a healthworker’s mental health.
ALL ART IS GOOD ART. This message takes on a different energy when we bring it to the workplace: where we are often surrounded by deadlines, performance metrics, quotas. We experience this too, and have been learning about how pausing and taking stock can be a brave move that doesn't always look immediately like the first and best choice.
Creating change in your life isn’t a one-person job; you need support to keep you going on the challenging journey, to guide you in unfamiliar experiences, to mirror back to you what you may not be aware of, to teach you new skills. At the same time, you can’t rely on just the support around you; no matter how much of it you get, it is your own inner perspectives and attitude that can make or break the momentum of change in your life.
Sometimes, introducing yourself is just about being present; being completely you so that someone else can witness it (or, in the case of our workshops sometimes - draw it 🖍 yes, even virtually!) what would your drawn self-portrait look like?
